IN THE NY STORE. Adrian Kirchler, founder of AK Drums in Italy has created something very special: The Damion Reid Signature Snare. Inspired by the world-class percussionist Damion Reid, Adrian has used his talents as a craftsman and engineer to come up with a snare wire system that captures Damion’s unique sound, style and expressiveness. Mr. Kirchler starts with a two piece copper shell, adds his innovative vintage style hoops and finishes the drum with cable snare wires that fan out in groups of 2 and are attached to the bottom hoop instead of a traditional butt-plate on the outside of the shell. The drum remains sensitive at all points on the head and has a warm vintage tone only heard in the AK copper shell. This snare drum design creates a sound as unique as the drummer who inspired it. These drums are available in the USA only through Steve Maxwell and come in a 5.5x14 and 7x14 size.  We were fortunate to have Damion in the shop to do the sound file for these drums. $1700.
