This is the definitive book on Gretsch. Just call Steve Maxwell and ask him. Steve uses this book as a resource tool on a daily basis. Chet did a fantastic research job when he prepared this book. Tons of history, and lots of great photos, plus interviews with many of the endorsers of Gretsch during it's heyday of the 50s and 60s. There is also lots of information about Gretsch's affiliation with the great Billy Gladstone and the Gretsch/Gladstone snares as well as information about Billy's snares that he built starting in the late 40s. Have you ever asked yourself these questions?:

When did they switch from 3 ply to 6 ply?

When did Gretsch start to use silver sealer and orange/white paper tags?

What were the years where the famous Cadillac Nitron Green finish was offered?

How did the Anniversary sparkle finish evolve?

All of these questions and more are answered in this book. The book also deals honestly and frankly with the issues that plagued Gretsch as ownership changed through the years. We highly recommend that you pick up this great book.
