The last one of these we had sold in a day. This one is coming straight to my NY store after the NAMM show, which is where the kit is right now. See Steve's NAMM show video of this kit here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mBIscaOXOYI
Check out our YouTube video for the last kit! This is the biggest, fattest sound you could possibly ask for. 13/16/22/6.5 You don't need anything bigger. This is UNREAL!!!
This is a super cool kit from Craviotto for many reasons. Not long ago Johnny introduced the "Baseball Bat" bearing edge, a throw back to the style of the 1950s-60s Slingerland and Ludwig drums. This accentuates the natural warmth of the shells and dries out the sound, creating a drum that is articulate, yet warm and rich sounding. Originally these kits were made with three-ply shells, with maple on the outside plies and a softer wood like mahogany or poplar in the middle. So the first baseball bat edge kit echoes that great legacy with a hybrid, solid-shell of maple/poplar/maple and sizes typical of that period: 14x22", 9x13", 16x16", and a 6.5x14" snare.
A couple months ago we did a video demostrating the baseball-bat edges on snare drums.
Johnny Craviotto's craftsmanship is second to none and this kit proves that he is constantly innovating as well!
