This year marks the 90th birthday for Bill Ludwig II (also known as "The Chief"). All of us know of Bill's achievements over the years as he and his dad worked to build the legacy of the Ludwig Drum Company. Bill's son, Bill III (B3 as he is known to his friends) asked me if we would be willing to host the 90th birthday party for his dad at our shop. We readily agreed of course. 

The party was held on September 10th and many family members and friends turned out to wish Bill II a very happy 90th. B3 and his wife Lisa did a wonderful job orchestrating the event. There was a buffet, cake, ballons and a very festive atmosphere.

Bill II can't get around as well as he once did, but he is still sharp as a tack. His contribution to the legacy of the Ludwig Drum Company will never be forgotten. Even in later years when his direct involvement decreased, he was always readily available for discussions as well as for his clinic on the history of drums. In fact, B3 is intending on picking up where his dad left off and is going to continue with the presentation going forward. This will ensure that the process continues to move forward for the next generation to appreciate.
