In my Chicagoland store in Naperville, Illinois. This is a very rare item. Slingerland only made the copper-over-wood finish for one year in 1973. This finish is VERY difficult to find and especially hard to find in such fine condition. The copper tended to oxidize and most examples are badly pitted as a result. I am an avid collector of this finish and have a set with over 20 pieces and as a result I am now selling some of my extras. All of the copper over wood drums I have are exceedingly clean and exhibit only minor oxidation. This drum is very nice and it is a bit unusual. The drum is a correct Slingerland 5 ply shell with no reinforcement rings. This drum is built out as a Buddy Rich model with TDR strainer and three vent holes. The drum appears to me to be 100% original, however, the shell was drilled for a tone control, but the wrap was placed over the shell and the tone control holes were never drilled through the wrap. Additionally, all three of the grommets are not folded over on the inside as they normally would be. My first impression was that the drum was a rewrap, however, this finish was not in the color line for very long and it does not appear to have been an after-market rewrap job, and it came to me with a set that I acquired from the original owner. This is the only example of a Buddy Rich model that I have seen. For sake of accuracy I'm going to say that I believe this was a factory built drum, but the issues mentioned here are a bit unusual on a factory drum so I have priced the drum accordingly. The finish has only minor oxidation and the chrome is in good shape. Drum sounds great. $525
