Stainless steel offers a special kind of tone and timbre, while at the same time, it gives you that sensitivity and response that metal snares are known for. They also have a wide and dynamic tuning range. Tune them down for a big and thick “John Bonham, Houses of the Holy” snare sound, or tune them up for some of that aggressive bite.
They are available in a wide selection of sizes to suit your taste: 14”x6.5”,14”x5”, 14”x3.5”, 13”x5”, 12”x6”, 12”x4”, and 10”x4”
While the 14”x6.5” fits well for the thick John Bonham sound, the shorter depths work perfect for that piccolo style, “Sublime” or “311” snare sound. Furthermore, the small 12” and 10” snares are perfect for that trademark tight snare sound found in drum n’ bass. Use them as a main snare or as a secondary auxiliary snare for a diverse selection to create that perfect back beat.
