These are the new double flanged model 302 hoops from Gretsch. These rims bring back the old pre-1957 "stick chopper" style rim, but without the stick chopping issues. This is a fantastic double flanged rim so the styling is essentially the same as those early rims. The straight edge on the new rims, however, is thicker and as a result it won't damage your sticks like the old style rims did. This rim will provide a more open sound when compared to the drier sound of the traditional Gretsch die cast rim. This new rim is great as a replacement for your vintage Gretsch kit, and, we will offer this rim as an option when you order a USA Custom kit. You can even order this rim as an option on a "vintage tribute" build out as well.
