Play the sound and the look of your heroes. First up: Elvin Jones
Elvin Jones and Gretsch: What more can we say? Other than this: You can now capture “That Great Gretsch Sound” that Elvin loved, and your kit can look exactly like the highly coveted original round badge set he played. 8x12, 14x14, 14x18, 5.5x14 in our Gretsch exclusive white satin flame. And, the set has the exact same ”vintage build” that identifies the coveted round badge era kits: Internal tone controls; 9.5mm tom legs and vintage brackets; vintage disappearing bass drum

Three Craviotto snares heading to Abbey Road Studio
We’ve got a Craviotto drum set on the way to Roberto Tini, Producer at Abbey Road Studio, and we’re now sending down this array of additional Craviotto snares. Descriptions and pics below! 5x14 Ambrosia Maple. Private Reserve. 45 degree edges. Ambrosia Maple has classic maple tone, and the visual is really interesting. Each drum is visually different because of the striations in the wood. There is a beetle (not the Abbey Road Beatle!) that lives in this wood. They make tiny

Craviotto in Abbey Road Studios!
That’s right: This incredible Craviotto bop kit will shortly be on its way to Abbey Road Studios in London. Going to Roberto Tini, Producer. This is a very unique Craviotto Private Reserve solid shell drum set. The Craviotto team crafted this unique kit using 8 different species of wood, and the blend of wood species for each drum is intended to make the kit sonically balanced, as well as striking to look at. The 5.5x14 snare drum is ash/poplar. The 8x12 is curly maple/cherry

Gretsch Dealer Spotlight for our shop, with Nick D’Virgilio.
I had the great pleasure last summer of sitting with Nick and talking about all things Gretsch, and also talking about my experiences over the years. I am also very thankful for the kind words from all of the people who commented on this video. Very much appreciated. Hope you enjoy it! Steve https://youtu.be/hg5T9SM_JuY?si=UnKN-qwpYZpcEPng

From The Past: Papa Jo Jones
Here is a reprint of a series I did for Modern Drummer many years ago. Enjoy! Steve Papa Jo Jones was the epitome of "swing", from his very early days with the Count Basie band in the 30s, right up until he passed in 1985. His style, grace, and his incredibly 'musical" approach to drumming inspired people like Buddy Rich, Louie Bellson, Max Roach, Kenny Clarke, and so many more. His technical skills were quite substantial, but he never let that get in the way of the music. Wi

Steve’s Vintage Market Update Re-post
This is a piece I posted back in 2022. A lot has transpired since then, and the past few years have been difficult times for the entire Musical Instrument industry, and market prices are currently not where they should be. Of course, all markets experience “ups and downs”, and the vintage instrument market is no different. However, a lot of the information here is still quite valid today.

Lots of website activity coming!
As we kick off the new year we are also working through the new website. We’ll be posting a lot of items here, and we’ll also be looking at some format changes as we go. As of right now, I am posting my items into the Latest News category. You can see that on the main page where the three most recent posts will appear, but at the top left of the main page you can click “Latest News” and see all listings. Make sure you scroll through so you don’t miss anything. More to come in

Welcome to the new website!
We’ve finally finished the new site. Stay tuned for more as we roll this out further.

FORK'S DRUM CLOSET NEWS!
I’m pleased to announce that Daniel Douchette has acquired my interest in Fork’s Drum Closet effective immediately. I couldn’t be happier here, because one of our goals when we acquired Fork’s was for it to one day go back to local ownership. Daniel has been with Fork’s for most of his adult life, devoting himself to the business during the time of ownership by the Forkum family, and also with us since we purchased it in 2018. Daniel is ideally suited to taking Fork’s forwa
