We want to share pics of the wonderful work the Craviotto team is doing in Watsonville. The incredible legacy that Johnny Craviotto created lives on and is in good hands with the Watsonville team. Johnny passed his skills and knowledge along and as a result, his incredible drums are produced today to the exacting standards that Johnny developed, and with a process that has never been duplicated. His drums stand the test of time and are recognized throughout the world as the finest solid shell drums made. Hand built by true master craftsman, Old-World style, one drum at a time. Check out these great pics:
1) Saul Rocha (Craviotto Production Manager) created what we call the jellybean kit! The idea here was to create a set that showcases many of the wood species that we use, all together in one set. (For those of you old enough to remember, think back to the "salesman sample" drums back in the 50s, where a snare (and sometimes a complete kit) would have strips of every available sparkle wrap on the drums). This set features Genuine Mahogany, Curly Maple, Walnut, Cherry, Birdseye Maple, Green Poplar, Ambrosia Maple, White Ash, Red Birch, Red Oak, Sitka Spruce, Euro Beech, Hickory, Maple, Butternut. Saul created this in memory of Johnny. There will be two kits, one of which belongs to Saul and the other will be on display in my NY store.
2) Some Padouk boards that will soon become beautiful drums!
3) Saul working on a shell.
4) Surrounded by shells!!
