Gretsch 20/12/14/14sn Drum Set - 1958 Champagne Sparkle
Beautiful late 50's Gretsch drum set in champagne sparkle with 8x12 tom tom, 14x14 floor tom, 14x20 bass and a 4x14 Progressive Jazz snare. This is a one owner kit purchased in 1958 in the NYC area. The set is all original with excepetion of a few replaced drum heads. Includes the original calf resonant bass drum head with Gretsch logo, a Gretsch Floating Action bass drum pedal, L-arm, traps case along with a few other hardware pieces. The interiors are pristine and the drums feature ALL 6-ply shells, one of the earliest examples. There are a few minor condition issues that are typical for the era, and are all left as is for the new owner to decide what to do with. The floor top wrap seam has lifted a bit, but re-gluing should be simple and easy. The diecast hoops have some minor wear and could be cleaned. Some paint chipped off the bass drum hoops here and there. The rail consolette is in good working condition but also could be cleaned. Other than those things and similar expected cosmetic aging, you have a vintage 1958 drum set in wonderful condition. The snare drum has a felt strip under the batter head, you can see it sticking out of the side of the snare in the photos. The original owner had played this set with the tone control knobs facing outward, as indicated by which heads have been played on. We have set them up hear badges out. Modern heads fit on all the drums, but are tight. We recommend an Aquarian American Vintage head for the bass drum.
