Here's a great and rare item. A 4x14 Gretsch Max Roach model from the 50s. This drum is a 3 ply shell and has the original Max Roach model strainer (which works far better than the later Microsensitive did on these shallow shells). The drum also has the Max Roach nameplate, as was common. NOTE: The nameplate itself was missing from the drum, although the naplate holes were there. The nameplate here is a very good reproduction. The drum is finished in WMP (or "Oriental pearl" as it was often referred to at this time). All correct and also is outfitted with gut snares, which is extremely rare. There are a few slight impressions in the wrap where the "foot" of the lug is attached. This is common. The drum sounds great with the gut snares and would be "over the top" with wire snares.
