Buddy Rich Centennial Ludwig Drum Set
Buddy Rich was truly the World's Greatest Drummer, and in celebration of his 100th anniversary we are proud to announce a very limited production run of Buddy Rich Centennial Ludwig Tribute Drum Sets.
This project was started through the love and respect that many of us have for Buddy and his legacy. Cathy Rich, Buddy's daughter and keeper of the legacy, has graciously endorsed this initiative. And, it seems only fitting that the tribute kit be a Ludwig set since Buddy's last formal endorsement was with Ludwig. Buddy's tribute kits are wonderful and faithful recreations of what he played when his original artist series was introduced circa 1980. Production is extremely limited and available exclusively through our shops. 9x13, 16x16, 16x16, 14x24, 5x14 and the 24x12 canister throne as well! (pics below also show Buddy with one of his sets and shows a photo of the early 80s artist series kits).
Ludwig Classic Maple shells with standard clear interior.
Ludwig blue/olive badges.
Large classic lugs with no gaskets for that true "vintage" look.
Period correct (circa 1980) original vintage white marine pearl finish made by the same company that created this finish used on Buddy's 80s era sets.
Coated medium weight batter heads and clear resonant heads on toms and snare. Coated medium weight resonant head on bass drum and smooth white resonant logo head with "BR" shield and "vintage" Ludwig logo on bass drum resonant head.
14x24 bass drum complete with period-correct rail consolette tom holder, two cymbal L arms, double set of arched spurs, gloss black hoops with inlay, and T rods. The splash cymbal L arm is a traditional Ludwig. The short ride cymbal L arm is made by me and allows for the cymbal to be at the low height that Buddy liked, and with no tilter. But, the benefit here is that while Buddy's was not adjustable or "tiltable", our L arm is adjustable so you can raise it if you like. And, I will include the cymbal tilter we make as well and it simply clamps onto the rod.
9x13 mounted tom and two 16x16 floor toms.
5x14 Jazz Fest snare drum. 8 "bowtie" lugs.
Each drum will also have a special Buddy Rich Centennial interior paper tag with the kit number and date, plus a certificate of authenticity signed by Cathy Rich. (NOTE: Poster shown is not included. That is our store poster for the series).
