Welcome to our new "Genesis By Maxwell" line of re-lathed vintage cymbals. Our goal here is to "create life from lifelessness" in the world of vintage cymbals. We have all had those cymbals that we know would be perfect if they were just a bit lighter. Well, now we have your solution. If you have a cymbal that is too heavy to fit your sound, you can have us re-lathe it to see if there might still be "magic" hiding in there. If there is, then you get a fabulous instrument. If not, then you can still move it along to someone else that might find it to be a perfect fit for their sound. In addition, we will also be taking stock cymbals and re-lathing them and offering them on our website for sale, and also in our NY and Chicagoland shops.

Lathing is done in our Chicagoland shop. The process takes a bit of time because once the cymbal is re-lathed, it needs time for the metal to "settle". When we do the first re-lathing we then test for the change in overall pitch, but then we typically allow 24 hours for the metal to "settle", then we go back and test the true sound and the feel of the cymbal to see if more work is needed.
