1. Roy Haynes style Ludwig Jazzette

Roy Haynes style Ludwig Jazzette drum set. Only two available. Video of both kits coming soon! Contact Steve at vintagedrums@aol.com if interested.

1. Classic Maple 8x12, 14x14, 14x18 in mahogany finish and. Unique kit with one of our last Ludwig repro rail mount tom holders, classic leg brackets, and Remo coated Amb batters. Also comes with a 5x14 alloy shell Supraphonic 400. $3900. I have to tell you, this Classic Maple set is my favorite of the two. The color is closest to Roy's original set and I am partial to the Classic Maple shells.

2. Legacy Mahogany 8x12, 14x14, 14x18 in mahogany finish. Unique kit with one of our last Ludwig repro rail mount tom holders, classic leg brackets, and Remo coated Amb batters. Also comes with a 6.5x14 alloy shell Supraphonic 402. $4300. This Legacy Mahogany kit has the same shell configuration as Roy's kit would have had, and of course has the rounded edges as per the mahogany shell era. This one has a warmer tone than the Classic Maple due to the shell and edges.

These two sets are one-offs. Roy was a Ludwig artist for many years, and during his vibrant years in the 60s he played the newly created Ludwig Jazzette drum set. This model was 8x12, 14x14, and a special 12x18 bass drum. Originally these were in natural or mahogany finish. Roy's kit was the mahogany finish. There are many photos of him with that set, which he used extensively with the Stan Getz quartet in the 60s. There is a wonderful drum solo video of Roy with Stan from 1966 and we have linked it here. Roy's set would have been the 3 ply maple/mahogany/maple (like the Legacy Mahogany) and had the Ludwig rail consolette tom holder.

We have just acquired two new Ludwig kits similar to Roy's. Both of ours have the 14x18 rather than 12x18, but they will be built out with two of my now- discontinued Ludwig rail consolette tom holder reproductions. (I kept a few just for special projects like this).

These two sets will be our "tip of the hat" to one of the greatest drummers of all time! (And certainly the "best dressed"!).

Each of these kits will also be offered with an alloy shell Supraphonic, which was the snare offered with these sets in the Ludwig catalog.

No, these sets won't make you play like Roy, but when you look at that classic configuration, think back to the legendary performer who made it famous, and how much he has inspired generations of drummers. More details soon! Steve
