Craviotto 22/10/12/14/16/18/7x14" Ash Black Lacquer #501 INSANE!
See our video of this set HERE. This is an incredible set for many reasons. This is set #501, which signifies the end of the first milestone (500 kits) and the start of the next 500-kit milestone! The set was specially ordered for me in solid ash with black gloss lacquer for a stunning look. Built by Johnny in 2015 and all shells are of course signed by him. Has been played sparingly in a studio and never gigged. $9400 for a killer kit, signed shells, and no waiting. Think piano-black-gloss. Put this set next to a Steinway! I wanted the shells to be Ash for the sonic properties of a somewhat longer sustain (or as Johnny called it, a longer "note"). The set consists of the following drums: 7.5x10, 8x12, 9x14, 15x16, 15x18, 16x22 and the snare is 7x14. The snare was ordered with the Diamond Cast lugs for a nice contrast. The rest of the kit has Johnny's solid brass chrome plated tube lugs. Edges are 30/45 for a bit of added warmth in the attack from the 30 degree batter edges and yet it retains all the resonance, articulation, projection and enormous tuning range with the 45 edges on the resonant side. The progressive depths on the 10, 12, 14, 16, 18 toms are great, and with the floor toms being 15x16 and 15x18 they achieve the desired depth, but "speak' more quickly. The depths for the toms provide a superb balance between all 5 toms. The 16x22 adds some extra punch with the additional two inch depth. The 7x14 has added body from the 7" depth. This set is absolutely incredible. The sizes, combined with the qualities of the Ash shells, give this set quick response, full, rich sound, and an enormously wide tuning range.
