In our Chicagoland store in Naperville, Illinois. This is truly remarkable. See our video for this set here:
These are 50s era Gretsch drums and there's a cool story here. 8x12, 14x14, 14x20 believe it or not. The 12 and 20 are 3 ply! The 14 is 6 ply. All silver interiors. The 8x12 and the 14x14 have original caddy green lacquer finish and originally had chrome hardware. The 14x20 was not an original caddy green drum. Former owner found an automotive paint specialist who made a dead-on match of the original caddy green finish and repainted the BD. And, to take it a step further, the former owner found someone who does zirconium gold plating and he had every bit of the hardware replated gold. This kit is absolutely stunning. Fully original finish and plating on drums this size and in this condition would set you back $25,000, IF you could even find them. I have seen only one other 12" caddy green tom and only one other 14" caddy green tom. This is incredibly beautiful. Standing in front of it this set looks 100% perfect in terms of color and plating. It's unreal. There are a couple of slightly bent Ts that still work fine. One BD hoop has a crack (caused when the hoop was shipped) and a replacement is being made as we speak. There are calf heads on the drums but I would recommend replacing these because the 14 heads have slight splits in them. The others are fine, but new ones would be preferable. The set is stunning and it is in incredible shape. This would be an unreal playing set or a stunning collector's kit and the price is at a fraction of the cost of a 100% original. $6000.
