Craviotto 20/12/14" Drum Set - 2011 Black Galaxy
This set seems like it ws used for one or two gigs. Other than a scratch on the bottom of the front bass drum hoop (see photos), this set is near mint. Photos don't do this finish justice, it is quite beautiful. These drums just sing.
A 2011 drum set featuring Johnny's signature. In excellent condition. A Gibraltar-brand rail mount has been professionally installed (same hole spacing as the Maxwell rail console). NOTES FROM STEVE: 8x12, 14x14, 14x20 maple with 45/45 edges in black galaxy sparkle lacquer. This being a very early kit (#175 from 2011, and Craviotto is now over 850 solid shell kits!), the wood has aged sonically and has even more character. The black galaxy sparkle lacquer is superb and really looks incredible under stage lights. Maple was always Johnny's favorite wood, and his favorite edges were 45/45. This is a fabulous set for a collector or player.
This kit is a beautiful example of Johnny Craviotto's unparalleled craftsmanship. All Craviotto drums are made from single-ply, steam-bent shells which resonante naturally and purely, uninhibited by layers of glue. Johnny hand selects each board for strength, consistency, and grain pattern and the drums are built and assembled by hand in the California factory.
Johnny's methods for steam bending were fine tuned over decades. No short cuts here. This sort of craftsmanship takes years to perfect, and his techniques and processes have never been equaled. The end result is a product that truly is the finest available in the world today. His team of master craftsmen were personally trained by him and they are carrying on the legacy. They continue to build drums "Johnny's way".
